Hi everyone

I've just found the Camera Labs forum after six month of DSLR ownership. I've got a Nikon D90 with 18-105 kit lens, 35 f1.8 and 70-300VR.

It's been a long hot summer in Dubai but as the temperatures have now dropped into the 30's I should be able to get out and about a bit more, looking forward to taking some images of desert scenery in the UAE...

Thanks for the welcomes. There are a few images posted in the Travel Photography section so far, but there will be plenty in the Sports Photography section within 3 weeks as Formula One is coming to town - can't wait!

Thanks for the hint, Gordon. I've been practising panning, but not on cars going 200mph around 15 metres away yet!

Hi !

I shall be in Dubai in late November. Any hints for good value shopping? I'm reading mixed reviews about shopping in Dubai. I was planning to buy a sony a580 from there (as I thought it would be cheaper than buying from Europe) but I contacted Jumbo electronics to ask for estimated arrival and price but did not get any reply.

As I don't want to arrive in Dubai empty handed, I'll probably buy everything from here.

By the way, I'm really enjoying your pics and really looking forward to be there!

(just realised now that the post was old - sorry for the thread necromancy)
