Whats the point of a pancake lens? Are they sharper without the zoom. or is it just to compact your camera making it more portable?

wouldnt you rather spend the money on a macro lens first rather then a pancake lens?

Pancakes are about size. The quality could vary. What you should buy depends on your needs.

i assume u are talking about oly 25mm pancake lens

image quality wise, it is not better than 14-54mm II lens, but it is slightly better than kit lens 14-42mm.

the main attraction are bigger aperture of f/2.8 and very small size.
