It's a fairly "safe" composition with the subject adhering to the rule of thirds. The 1st one isn't as good as the 2nd. In the 1st one, you have an out of focus leaf and a part of the table's center that do not add to the composition. These aren't present in the 2nd, instead you have curved edge of the table acting like a leading line towards the subject. That makes the 2nd photo stand out more.

Nothing exciting but that's not a bad thing. It's got a nice clean "product photo" look which is nice. I would be tempted to clone out the blemishes and leaf and raise the exposure on just the tomato so that it stands out from the background a bit.
