what advantages do I get? to justify the increase? I am getting CS4 extended from my university for $180.

I also have a copy pf photoshop elements 5. It currently manages my catalog. I have never used brige. Is there an advantage in moving the catalog over to bridge?

I am a CS4 user and I came from CS1 and I can say there is a huge improvement over speed and user interface. I have also used CS3 quite a bit, and CS4 isn't a major step up. CS2 is the only version I'm not familiar with. Hope that helped.

Having had CS2 and now being on CS4 - There is an improvement in the speed at which you can complete tasks in. I found that CS2 was perhaps a little unresponsive in certain areas such as changing colour mode.

If you've got the option of taking CS4 I would take it, in my mind there's no harm in being up to date!

CS4 includes a native 64-bit version of Photoshop, which can exploit lots of RAM in 64-bit systems. Of course you'll need a 64-bit OS and lots of RAM, but it's a cool feature for those with compatible systems.

I probably use about 0.001% of CS4´s potential... But one thing that I really like with CS4 (over CS3 mainly), is the clone stamp tool (much much improved), it´s really a joy to use.

Anyway, $180 is really cheap...so by all means, go for it!

I think it's a good time to upgrade. If you had said CS3 to CS4 I'd say no, but they have improved quite a bit since CS2.

That being said, if I had $200 to spend right now I would spend it on this: 35mm 1.8
