Although I make my way through life at a job that's not photography related, all of my equipment has been paid for through photographic work: portraits, stock and fine art sales make up the majority of the $$$.

Hi Nick,

I have been thinking about this too. With well over 1300 registered users, only 39 people have voted in last month's assignment "Love". Granted many members may have moved on for various reasons, but there must be at least a couple hundred users that visit the site at least weekly.

As I read most posts there are several people that have well over 140+ posts and lots more that only have 1-30 and have not posted anything since mid of last year. I I make the assumption I would truly say that there is realy only about 20-40 active mambers (or less) that post or read at least once a day.

I went with novice, got a decent amount of knowledge in the field, but lack the skill to transfer it to the photos i take.
Maybe i just havn't found my style yet, or maybe things will be better when some colors show up.

Like most forums or clubs, there'll always be a smaller core base of regular visitors, leaving others to occassional posts or even just a couple when they're deciding what camera to buy. That's why we much encourage all those new members who come on to ask advice about buying a camera to come back afetrwards and join the assignments and the community!

That said, I think we have a great community here already!

agreed, we have a pretty nice little family, ive known about camera labs for a long time, i just now regiestered, im sure there will be more like me.

I don't know if I'm really an amateur, per se, but I love shooting wildlife photos. Tell me what you think of this:

I'm an amateur & I'm proud of it.

Beginner, amatuer and novice.

what's the difference.

"Amateur" (doesn't feel right) going semi-pro. That's a slow process with me though. I've been planning to sell my service as a photographer, but keep on thinking: no, not until I have that.
At the moment, it's: no, not until I have an 85mm f/1.4 and 28mm f/2.8.
Then it will be: no, not until I have a full frame camera.
Then there's probably other lenses I want to have first before going semi-pro.

Perhaps my new university will offer me some photo-jobs, I certainly hope so! That'd be semi-pro, as long as I get paid (and I'll arrange that).
