Hi all,
I picked this man out of a crowd watching a Punch and Judy show. I enjoyed the show, having not seen one for some forty years

I was thinking for some time now should I submit a photo for this month's assignment since portraiture is not really my field or interest in photography, at least not people portraiture. Since Lensbaby allowed us to post animal portraits i decided to use this picture that I made 2 weeks ago without intending to submit it for the assignment. But it is more important to participate than to win. Anyway this is my entry for this month.

PostPosted: Fri Aug 28, 2009 4:18 pm
Hi all, took this image with my 50mm 1.8 with a 450D, we were spending the night on this island ( Coney Island ) found on Lough Neagh and this is the man that lives on it.... Peter, had a brilliant night hearing all the ghost stories regarding the cottage and graves found on the island.

Hope you like.

James

I was at a lack of inspiration. I've been in a creative Strike that, lazy rut lately. So today I forced myself to do some work. I was "practicing" by re-creating (crudely) the light of the masters.

The master today was Platon, a photog from the UK who in 2008 won an award for his Time Magazine shot of Vladimir Putin. I shot a very Platon like photo of myself.

Didn't get a chance to shoot what I wanted to for this assignment, but figured I'd submit something anyhow. Hope you like it.

What do ya do when an On Assignment theme's portraiture. You get yourself a Victoria Secret's/Vogue model! That's it! Holland's Doutzen Kroes was happy to pose for me. Or should I say: Doutzen's wax twin-sister in Madame Tussauds... Anyway, here's the shot:

Image
(or larger)

Camera Model: Sony DSLR-A700 (+ grip)
Lens and focal length: Carl Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8 SSM @ 50mm
ISO: 3200
Aperture: f/2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/250th
Post processing: Hmm, quite a bit. Darkened a little on her face, swapped the background (that managed to make the picture a little ugly, can you imagine, with Doutzen?), reduced the noise, sharpened slightly, processed from RAW
