Trying to install it on my netbook at moment. Haven't started yet and it's already taken the morning.
I tried to copy the DVD image I previously downloaded from my file server. It stalls about 2/3 of the way through. Not a good start. No problem, download fresh copy from MS.
Right, time to burn the DVD. I can't find any of my DVD-RWs. I did find one unused DVD-R but my main PC wont recognise it
A trip to the shops later I have a 10 pack of Asda brand RWs.
DVD image now burnt, I plugged in my external drive to the netbook and try booting from it. Nope. Just doesn't recognise it. On closer inspection, it turned out I put a CD drive in the enclosure not a DVD. Doh!
Tried swapping it with an old DVD-rom. It doesn't fit in the enclosure as it is about 1cm longer than the old drive. Argh!
Ok, I wont mount it inside and just run it outside. Nope, looks like the DVD-rom is too old to recognise a modern RW.
Now I'm about to pull a newer DVD drive out of a spare machine... and I'm starting to questioning why I even started this at all...
