Greg you always amaze me with your close ups, but compliments to everyone for great shots too. This is my first try in this tread, I don't really have dedicated equipment for this kind of shots but this is something I made yesterday with my 80-200mm F4.5 1:4 macro, I didn't bother using extension tubes but I know it would bring me in closer.

That's a nice shot, like the composition.

Thank you Nelepl - glad you like them :D I see you are in Calgary, spent many great days there, and further up in the Rockies - you live in one of the best parts of the World!

Thanks Greg, it is beautiful here indeed, unfortunately I don't see much of the Rockies lately, I don't have a car for quite some time now. But I do work in Kananaskis Country which is just before the mountains south west of Calgary and it is amazing nature.

All shots taken with Lumix GH1, with canon 50mm FD, P mode, Iso 100-800. I varied the aperture and ISO, next time ill write these things down. using FD lenses means manual focus only. All shots hand-held.

Yes well...
The scientific title of this thread should read "Wasps, Bees, and Bee-Alikes"
