Here are some photos from my 105mm Micro Nikkor. I've mainly used it for watch photos. Watches are something of a hobby of mine. I also took a few flower photos when I got the lens and have posted examples of both types here. The lens is excellent when mounted on a tripod. All but the last two flower photos were taken with the camera on a tripod and VR switched off. With VR enabled the lens tends to hunt for focus. This is especially true when trying to get very close to a subject. I found it much easier to get really close using a tripod. All photo were taken with my D80 using NEF and post processed using Lightroom.

D800+assorted lenses

Hi folks,

here are my first attempts at 1:1 with the Nikkor DX VR 105 2.8 Micro
The subject is a stainless steel kitchen sieve I use for my pasta.
The holes are around 2mm diameter.
The image was scaled to its smaller size with GIMP.
Camera: D300
Aperture: F/13
Exposure: 15s (!!)
No flash

When it comes to color fringing, I have noticed that quiet a bit as well, though it is usually easily fixed in PP so no problem there. As for the build quality Ive dropped this lens from about waist height down on a concrete floor and the only thing that got ruined was the filter. Its very sturdy. The color rendition and contrast are excellent. Its okay for portraits, though a bit too sharp.
