The railways close to where I live are protected by two fences on either side both with barbed wire! :shock: I suppose a better photographer than myself would be able to find a way to make a shot nice regardless of the protection. :(

All you need is a pair of lighweight folding steps so as to be able to look over the offending fence all of the train photographers and myself carry them in the boot of their cars just for this purpose.

Thanks Roy, I didn't think of that. I've only noticed this on the bit of track close to my house though and its quite unaccessible because of the surrounding land so I'd have to look for track further away anyway.

Oops I seem to have skimmed over the bit where Gordon mentions December holidays as a theme. I think that's a great idea and very relevant to the time of year.

Good theme

As we're now over halfway through December, it's time to start thinking of a theme for January? Any suggestions?

Perhaps the theme should be set by the winner of the Assignment currently being polled - so for January's Assignment, it would be the winner of November's. What does everyone think?

Do you mean street as in an attitude / state of mind?

The Urban Dictionary entry for street has 15 separate entries but I guess the nicest one in this context is "hip, cool etc".

Bob. :(

Well, when i mean street photography, in my mind its people going about their lives, unaware of you, and you just taking photos of what you find interesting. Here are a few examples of what I think of 'street';

a few of my shots.

haha nothing, it was a point and shoto, plus she was too busy with her kid :P

I just found it amusing how panicky she got over her kid looking in the bin.

What about 'Panning' ?

It allows for a wide range of subject matter and means we'll be able to practice and improve the technique also.
