Agreed, Bob. Edited (no pun intended) to reflect.

Bonjour Luis,

If I was to list what editing I'd think is fair, this was what I'd write down:

    crop
    rotate
    resize
    adjust brightness
    adjust lighting
    adjust colour saturation
    adjust colour balance
apply black and white or sepia filter or other filter
    adjust sharpening

Great list :) I agree 100%. Actually, I limit myself to those operations so I could focus on taking the picture.

Since I don't use complex photo editing, the software I use (iPhoto) allows me to do (only) what's describe on your list, so I'm happy with it.

Gordon may open another specific assignment for editing virtuosity :!:

Hi Ant, thanks for arranging that site for images. My only concern is what happens if you're not around or the site isn't always available. So ultimately I'd recommend people use a big third party site like flickr, but thanks for your time and generosity in providing an alternative.

At this point, and as we can see...

First week: 8 submissions.
Second week: 0 submissions.

I would expect a third and fourth weeks without much activity.

If anything will kill this, is inactivity. Maybe we should consider shortening the running time for each "assignment" from four weeks to two weeks. This would still allow plenty of time to think and plan the photo, while maintaining momentum.

What do you say?

I'd wait and see how many submissions arrive in week 4.

Bob.

Yep, lets wait and see how it goes... if it remains slow on this and the next one, then maybe we'll look into shortening it, but I think we should stick to a month for Nov and Dec...

Question: Wouldn't it be better if we had, say, 3 votes for the assignment polls ? Because there are a lot of contestants, and it's really hard to choose only ONE...

Can't be done. Sorry. The forum software only allows one vote per poll AFAIK and having three separate polls isn't really an option as IMO it would make voting too complicated.

I actually had to extend the poll limit to accommdate the 36 entries this month, so at some point, I think it will outgrow phpbb's capabilites and we'll have to think of an alternative! Maybe split it into several polls to come up with four runners up, then a final poll for the overall winner!

So it can be done.

Do you run it on your own board? Looking at the Announcement topic there seem to be quite a few people who have had problems with this Mod, though only 8% rate it as Poor.

Bob.

Sure, anything can be done :D

Nowadays I don't use phpBB anymore, but rather SMF. However, I used to be coadmin on a phpBB forum 3 years ago, and I remember we had a multiple vote mod - I do not recall if it was this one or not though.

So basically I cannot guarantee the quality of this particular mod, but it was just to tell Gordon that it could be done ;)
