I am in need of a decent size camera bag (to carry a premium compact camera and a few personal items) that could pass as a hand bag so I don't visually scream tourist/theft target in France....does one exist?

Is your current hand bag not big enough to hold a premium compact? Perhaps you might like a bigger purse?

Yes, my husband would love that :)

What I ended up doing was getting one of these bags (in taupe), a PacSafe CitySafe 200 tote

and getting one of these (an Olympus 202309 Nylon Ultra Zoom Case) to put inside the Citysafe bag and inserting a foam divider from my Lowepro bag to the bottom for added padding to protect the bottom against hitting the ground too hard when I take off the bag.

It may be a bit extreme but I can carry many things other than my camera and it doesn't look like a camera bag. I like the Crumpler and the Pacsafe camera bag but a) the Crumpler is popular enough for thieves to know there is a camera in that bag b) the Pacsafe one has a huge lock on it which also screams expensive camera. I know its a little cluegy (a quick and dirty workaround) but I'm hoping it works.

The Olympus bag should also fit into my everyday purse when I'm just traveling around home too.
