Hi everyone!

Got any comments on the November submissions, or any questions for the photographers? Post them here!

Thanks,

Gordon

Nice shot Brian, thanks for kicking off this month's theme!

Thanks Gordon. The shot wasn't exactly what I wanted since reducing the size for the assignment steals some to the detail. Also, I noticed that many people were discouraged after the last assignment (which I missed) and I wanted to say that I found the assignment a lot of work compared to my regular undiciplined outtings. When you control the shooting environment instead of adapting to nature's offering, it piles on a whole new challenge.

Nice shot TelexStar. I bet it was hard to decide between your two shots. Personally, I liked the simpler shot (that you choose not to use), but I also see how the extra detail in the one you posted makes a better statement. :D

Thanks Brian,

It was hard to choose as I like them both equally. I'm still not entirely sure I picked the right one but I'll stick with my submission. :)

I completely agree with you on the disciplined nature of these assignments. It really makes you slow down and think a lot more about the shot.

Nice shots Brian & TelexStar! I've just caught up with this whole "On Assignment" forum and I think it's a great idea! I've seen similar things on other sites, but they always seem to die out after a few months, I don't know why. I really hope everyone here keeps the Camera Labs one going.

I missed out on last month's competition, but I hope to post an entry for this one soon. I think for me, cutting down on post processing is going to be a challenge but in a way it's good because I think it will make me more conscious about getting the shot right in the first place....easier said than done :)

Remember not only yo give the lens focal length, but also the actual focal length you used.

- 18-200mm @ 160mm

Really nice capture Luis... did you have to take many to grab this shot?

The whole session took 231 photos, including focus calibration. Most were in burst mode.

Great Submissions everyone.
BrainS abstract reflection was great
Telexstar light rock cold was effective
ChinaMark - floating glass was ingenious
Luis - droplet was amazing..

It's going to be tough for a simple subject.
Luis - you surprised me by using the 50mm :!: or rather beat me to it with the submission !
I had wanted something similar - guessed, once the idea comes, its better to just do it and submit fast ! ha ha
Now I have to think of something different !

That's a really great shot Luis, well done! The colours in the water are beautiful. I think you must have a lot of patience :) The first time I tried mine, it was the evening and I put it in a little fountain that was floodlit from beneath the water. I was trying to get the light coming from below with the water pouring in from above...sounds great, but I just couldn't get the shot and in the end I gave up....so frustrating!

It took me about 20 minutes to choose and another 5 or so for the crop and effects.

DavidL, strangely enough, I had a feeling I should shoot and post as soon as possible, as someone was sure to try this sooner or later. :P

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
