Hi everyone! Welcome to May's Assignment!

The theme for this month is "Delicate", as suggested by Sublimity who won the March 2009 competition.

In Sublimity's own words: "The theme for May is Delicate: the quality of being easily broken or damaged; fragility; brittle. Bodily weakness; liability to sickness; frailty. Some suggestions would be something luxurious, tristful, ephemeral, transitory, and so on. Don't hesitate to make your own interpretations! Moderate post-processing allowed to develop atmosphere for the concept."

The rules!

1: You can only submit one image and it has to be taken during May 2009. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!

2: All images submitted must be no more than 500 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.

As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. See the Forum Rules for guides.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.

Shot first thing this morning against the light to try and pick up the slight iridescence in the silken threads of the web. I was attracted by the Hard v Soft nature of the components of the picture.

In these trying economic times, balancing the household budget is a very delicate balance. This is especially true for amateur photographers with a gear lust (like me!).

Hi everyone,
To me loading a film was always a delicate operation compared to just sliding a memory card in the slot. There was always a sense of hit and miss, will the film wind on once you've closed the cover.

I'm always surprised to see how these delicate poppies can live by the secondary road where cars zoom by them, almost tearing them out of their roots...
