This week's "on assignment" task will be to take a photo of a book.

Use any setting you like.

Do use any gear you have at your disposal.

Please use only the editing that you could also do in your camera.

Host your photo somewhere and then let us see it on this thread. If you need any help on how to use BBCode to do that, please send me a private message and I'll work with you on that - it's real easy.

The deadline is 24:00 GMT on Saturday, October 27.

Good luck!

Game on my friends! Time to hit the local library for the first time in my life!

Perhaps the Quran, Bible and the other major religious texts side by side - pretty interesting concept!

We shall see, and as I said, game on!

No problem with using a compact, rob. The person behind the camera makes the photo, not the camera itself. It's a question of working with the tools you have.

hey just look on Flickr for a minute, you'll find plenty of outstanding photos taken with some of the really basic compact cameras! The Camera is only part of the equation, the Photographer and the moment contribute the most to a good photograph!

Please use any setting you like. This could be indoors, outdoors, with an isolated subject, with an elaborated background, with other objects, without other objects, etc... :)

Why are entrants only allowed to use the equivalent of in-camera editing features?

The purpose is to level the technical requirements low, so that all - beginners and experts - can have a chance.

Also, this is a showcase for what you can do with your camera, not for what you can do with photoshop. You can be a decent amateur photographer and not know the first thing about photoshop. ;-)

Nevertheless, when the new montly/bi-weekly "on assignment" starts in november, there will probably be some changes in the rules. Maybe you could suggest that change, who knows? But please use this other thread for that.
