Considering buying an ITouch for doing standard classroom/auditorium presentations. I want extreme lightweight plus convenience. I'm just wondering if it's possible to hook it up to a standard projector (the kind most boardrooms and auditoriums and banquet halls have). Any one have any experience with this?

This is going to be a touch one, not to say impossible. Ipods do have a TV-out port for video and slideshows. You'd need a 3.5 mm male jack to tulip cable, and even then it's a stretch.

Do yourself a favor and get a small netbook like the eeePC :)

Yes it as possible but you may have better alternatives such as the Acer Aspire one, which is only 300 USD

to do it with an iPod touch you need this:

Hmm, is it now impossible to use the 3.5 mm jack for video and audio? This worked with a homemade cable on the iPod video, but not on my ipod classic.

Darn aple, locking customers in...
Nah, a netbook would be the way to go. Way more compatible, and less problems.

Bummer - the allure of having a portable presentation unit capable of fitting in my shirt pocket really appeals to me - much more than having to carry around a three pound leviathan. Why Mac can't figure this out is beyond me.

Thanks all. :)

I own the composite A/V cable i showed you and it works quite well. its very simple. but carrying those cables around might be inconvenient for you. most of the time there are projectors they are hooked up to a computer of some sort which usually has MS power point or at least can view power point presentations from a flash drive which i would say is the ultimate in portable solutions.
