Ok spent a day out with my new D90 and the stock strap is GARBAGE!

I was looking for something that I could clip in and out (fast and easy) in the cameras strap mounts, but see many quick release designs still have the 2-4 inches of strap connected to camera (the quick release is mid strap level).

If I want the strap off I want to unclip it at the body, would something like this clip into my 2 strap holes on my D90?

I just like the idea of the end clip being easy to remove and not have a strap on both sides flopping around if I don't want the strap on the camera at that time.

Or is there a different end connector I could or should buy and use with any other "normal" strap I find that is comfortable but might not have that feature (just swapping out the end pieces for fast release).

That looks like it would work for that style of strap to be used with my D90 strap slots.

Now to find a good comfy strap...

It seems most strap slots are too small to accomodate a quick release clip. Another option to your plastic gizmos is to fix a key ring to each slot then a QR strap will attach easily.

Optech actually does sell straps with a quick release built into the strap.

I've got an Optech strap and have had it for nearly two years (including a trip around the world in all weather conditions). They are superb straps! Really comfortable and the quick release system is very nifty.

I have used the Op/tech and Tamrac neoprene camera straps for the last 2 years.They are comfortable and have some stretch an flexibility to them so they absorb so of the weight of your camera, and they both have quick release claps

Is the remaining strap attached to the camera long enough for you to fold over as a grip strap? Because that's what I'd opt for.

I also have an Op/Tech strap connected to my D80 and I wouldn't be without it. When I use my tripod I simply release the strap and reconnect the remaining dangly ends to make a short hand strap which doesn't catch the wind quite so much.
