I made a lot of photos today to a very friendly park squirell...

I LOVE squirrels with tassled ears! Some of the first fieldwork I ever did was with a species of tassle-eared squirrel we have in the US. They're such handsome animals!

This picture made me happy. :D

I love squirrels! In 2007 I rescued a baby and released him when he was old enough. We named him Chip. I have LOTS of pics of him, and there are some loaded in my Picasa album. Too many to post them all here:

Here's the link to the album: http://picasaweb.google.com/Carrie.atHo ... 2117287234

I hope that's clickable. This is my first post here.

Garnetgirl, nice pics. It looks like you took very good care of that little guy, like he/she was your own. :D

Btw, welcome to CL. hope you enjoy all the pics and tips.

Thanks! Yes, I did my best to keep him happy & healthy. I did LOTS of research to find out how to raise him. Before release, I had to make sure he had plenty of his natural food so he'd know what to look for for. He returned to his cage(I kept it outside after release) and would come visit me from time to time, but now I have no idea if he's still in the area or if he's moved on or whatever. It was a wonderful experience. My children wanted to keep him as a pet, but I told them that would not be fair to him. He was born to be free. Well, once he was old enough to release, he began biting if anyone got too close to his food, and then they finally agreed that he needed to be free...lol. So, I think it was also a good lesson for them. Did you know there's an entire forum dedicated to nothing but squirrels? There were lots of rehabbers there and that's how I learned what to feed him. Puppy formula and monkey biscuits!! Who knew the local pet store would carry monkey biscuits! lol

Oh, since this is a photography forum, I should probably add that those pics were all taken with an Olympus C5500 Sport Zoom. Just a point & shoot, but I no longer have that camera. The LCD broke. It took GREAT macro shots! I miss that. I now have the Nikon D40 (and a Canon PowerShot, but I don't like it). Just bought the Nikon last Saturday! :D That's why I joined this forum.

Yes! Great shots Rui, kpr. I really hope this thread becomes as popular as the duck of the day. I might be just as fond of squirrels as patti is of waterfowl.
