When doing self portraits, or any, you are supposed to focus on the eyes, but when doing self portraits this is just a tad harder mainly because you can't see through the viewfinder....or can you!

I just noticed this today when I was messing around, but if you do the "myspace" style self portrait (holding the camera at arms length) you can actually see the center (I set my auto focus point to center, then recompose the shot with the AF locked) focus point light up red, and if you center it in relation to your eyes, or one of your eyes, then you can make sure that your eyes are perfectly in focus!

Is there an easier way to do a self portrait making sure your eyes are in perfect focus, e.g. if you are using a tripod and selftimer/remote?

Anywho here is a photo of me (not that my mug is anything special) using this method, and I think the eyes are in focus...

Anywho, tips on self-portraits are much appreciate, as are comments on both the photo, and my method/theory.

You're right, you can spot the focuisng screen from 'the other side'. I sometimes capture parts of them when photographing cameras face-on for our reviews...
