Wellllllllll technically a lunar eclipse has to do with the sun.
The light reflected from the moon comes from the sun.
The shadow created by the earth comes from the sun.

August 1999 Eclipse, taken at LeHavre, France. Canon EOS 5 (yes, 35mm film!) mounted at prime focus of a Televue Genesis SDF with a 2x converter (1040mm f10.4 equiv).
