I have it down to these two tripods. They are about the same price $150 US. The Giottos folds down smaller and is almost the same height fully extended as the Manfrotto, but the Giottos weighs about .5lbs more.

The Manfrotto is bigger closed and a little bigger open but is a bit lighter, but does not come with the nice accessories the Giottos does (padded bag, spiked feet, carry strap).

I guess I was wondering about the leg locks of both. The Giottos has twist lock legs with dust seals... where the Manfrotto has the lever lock sections that some say are faster but feel flimsy.
