Im not sure but they appear to be, i am interseted to find out. Some companies like samsung re-brand cameras, in samsung's case they re-brand pentax. But, i know Panasonic uses Lecia lenses in their SZ's and Lecia makes 4/3 slr's as does panasonic. So they obviously have somewhat of a partnership although i am not sure.

Hi folks,

From what I understand the answer is a qualified Yes. I've linked below to a frame from Swedish store Cyberphoto that has been mangled into English by Google. It contains some side by side "clickable" test shots:

Sony RX1R II. Olympus OM-D E-M1 + M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8, M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 + 1.4x T/C, Lumix 7-14mm f/4, Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 ASPH, M.Zuiko Digital 45mm 1:1.8
M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm 1:1.8, Leica D Vario-Elmar 14mm-150mm f/3.5 - f/5.6 ASPH.
OM-D E-M5, H-PS14042E, Gitzo GT1541T, Arca-Swiss Z1 DP ball-head.
Astrophotography: TEC 140 'scope, FLI ML16803 camera, ASA DDM60 Pro mount.

I have the FZ50 and I've owned the Leica M4, M6, and R3. The FZ50 build quality IMO is *better* than the Leica M6. If you get a FZ50 made somewhere besides Japan, that may not hold true. Some of the BIOS of the Leica VLUX is Leica's own, but the body, lens, and CCD etc. s/b the same as the FZ50.
