Hi, I see that the new FX500 has manual control, what are the advantages of this over a model like my TZ2 for instance that has no manual control?

What sort of pictures/images can be gained by manual control that can"t on the TZ2?

Thanks for any help.
Steve.

Many difficult situations can be partly compensated on a TZ2 for example, using scenes or other auto-adjust features on the camera. Manual control allows you to set exactly what you want, though, so to get best results you will want to buy a good light meter and learn the tricks of exposure compensation.
