Hi folks,
Quite an interesting comparison between Panasonic's "G X Vario PZ 14-42mm" and "Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4" can be found over at PhotoZone. Not that Klaus has directly compared them but, with the caveat that these are two very different lenses optimised for two very different uses, the MTF charts for the two lenses (
here and
here) show that the 14-42mm is a well balanced and a very decent performer for a "pancake zoom". That certainly bears out my own experience with the 14-42mm on my Olympus E-M5 although I've witnessed what can happen to the lens mechanics when exposed to a dusty/sandy environment, not with my own copy fortunately, so the 14-42mm is probably not a good choice for hostile environments!
