GH3: 132.9 x 93.4 x 82 mm
K5: 131 x 97 x 73 mm
D600: 141 x 113 x 82 mm

Though functionality wise I love all the new handy features, IQ yet to be seen, but where is the size taking us?

I wrote a small article to discuss this on seriouscompacts and would like to hear your comments in comparison to these FF! ... gh3-12646/

Even better to do a comparison with cropped sensor cameras... so compare it with Nikon D5100 as well... they are roughly the same size, GH3 is a bit wider, D5100 a bit taller... D5100 has 10 more grams than GH3 (both with card and battery). I really doubt that GH3 can reach D5100 image quality for stills.

Lens wise, GH3 will have them smaller ... at least that.

The old Pentax K-x is noticeable smaller than GH3 ... and you have tiny prime lens for Pentax that make it quite portable.

GH3 will be an hell of a camera to record video, but price wise, for photography, it has little appeal...

G5 is missing some of the features of GH2 for video... leaving a gap between them... maybe a new GX will fill a bit of the gap? I doubt it, prolly better wait for a new G version...

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't update from my old GH1 right now, even if I had the money to do so...

In the end... GH3 is really pointed for video, in that regard it will be hard to beat by the competition....

APSC is a compromise over FF, 4/3 is not, it always meant to be a small sensor for a smaller body and sharper tiny lenses.

The article above only point to the fact that 4 times bigger sensor is reaching a body size of 4/3 professional bodies.

This is a good debate about the real use of GHn series, video or stills. Since the test results are not there, I prefer that discussion for another time, only the size and weight.

However, if you wanna look at OMD, it has established its name for Image Quality, I would like you to go and pull its review on cameralabs and compare its High ISO images, or go to dpreview website and compare its images with the best APSC camera like K5 or D7000 and let me know if you can see it inferior at any ISO level. Later, dare to compare it with Nikon D800, you will notice some difference this time but you will be amazed how marginal it is.

You can always hope with higher price tag, that GH3 can atleast match OMD. But will see!
Thanks for the response!
