So far I'm really digging my ZS7 but the zoom speed is excruciatingly slow. I honestly do not mind the fact that it would translate into more motor noise because for what I use the camera for (live music performance) the audio capture for the video is coming from room condenser mic's.

camera audio capture is muted in video editing.

So is there a way to manually override this? Or is there a custom firmware flash out there that can change this or am I just outta luck here?


Also, is there a manual focus on video mode? if the lights on stage stay fully lit, it keeps it's focus but once the lights start flashing, the focus has a seizure and goes nuts.

I have tried increasing zoom speed in video mode but didn't find anything in the settings or in the full user guide so I don't think it's possible.
There isn't any manual focus in video mode or camera mode which is frustrating sometimes.

yeah the slow zoom and lack of manual focus in video mode is really my only complaint with the camera.

with any luck, someone wil come up with a hacked firmware that can speed up the zoom and who knows what else.
