 Post subject: First camera, FZ30

So for Xmas I got myself my first camera, the FZ30, before that I've been using my cellphone. A couple of weeks ago I went to NYC and took it for a test run and it was so awesome. I've been using the full manual settings more and more, and the dual dials makes everything so fast. I've just finished putting on some Hello Kitty stickers on it (I do it on most of my gadgets to make it look less "steal-able"). I noticed that everything slows down, where 1/30 seconds is fast enough and 1 second is just waaaay too long.

I think that hardest part so far is taking indoor pics without going 400ISO. Even taking pictures of the family having lunch, their hands and heads comes out blurry when they were eating. Another thing I've noticed is that the 35mm is tighter than I expected it. I couldn't fit the big church in NYC when I was across the street while my brother's FZ35 could fit it, with the sky and the side walk included.

We are planning to go back to the Philippines this summer vacation, or next winter break, and I am thinking about buying a wide angle converter lens for those nice wide landscape pictures. Problem is that so far the Raynox is the best, but it costs just as much as the camera itself (purchased off ebay for $150). So that's my story so far, hoping to post some pics soon.

Before you invest in wide angle converters you should try photo stitching software. In the case of the church you just take two vertically overlapping photos and the software combines them to one.

Recently I came across a free one so worth a try perhaps.

When in doubt..... Press the shutter.
