Have had my Pani FZ30 since 2006 and just bought the FZ35 for a friend as a Xmas gift. Purchased two Tiffen Haze1 filter lens for both cameras mainly as protection for the Leica lens. Since then I have read reports that Tiffen lens can cause ghosting under certain conditions perhaps lamps inside. Should I be upgrading to a Sigma or Hoya? I would hate for my friend to have ghosting on his new camera due to the Tiffen filter, thinking it is a fault of the camera. When I discussed this with the representative she thought I had been reading too much and not to worry, so comments from those with various lens would be most appreciated.

Hi,

I know of very ordinary filters being used to protect lenses, such as UV filters, but never known of fogging. I know a couple of people who do this, and have no such complaint.

If you photograph seriously, you may consider a polarizing filter, as you need it under many conditions. So, if you use it most of the time, it can be your protecting filter as well.

As for a precaution, you can remove the filter when you switch off your camera. Beyond this, I do not know of any other problem.
