Hi, I'm back from a 15 days travel and I have in my hands the TZ7 (really expensive here in Italy - about 410 Euro) since only 2 days.
So a very quick comment about the ia mode: (intelligent mode) and the video
1) if you choose the 16/9 you have only 2 Mpixel , no more !
2) you can have only standard color (no natural , no vivid ..!!)
3) with the video you can't use the self timer

Have these limits a logical explanation ? :?:

PS in normal mode a with the 16/9 the 25mm wide is really close to a real 22/23 mm , fantastic !!

Cesare,I have the TZ6 and ive found that in IA mode the white balance is always auto and nobody ever uses auto white balance.
Im pleased with video quality despite it not being HD like your TZ7.
The rattling noise has gone that plagued my TZ2.
The zoom whilst recording is great.

Hi TZ2, frankly I do not use the video, never ! so my comment was only about the self-timer because I think that is useful to start a video with you in. I printed only 4 pics at 20x30 cm same subject with my old TZ3 and my new TZ7 . This only to support my choice and frankly any visible difference in quality (obviously the 25 mm is much better in wide than the old 28 mm) . I wait for my next travel to support "more" my choice to prove that the TZ7 is worth of 410 Euro (about 750 AUD if you are Australian ) .

I never heard of a camcorder with a timer, a number have remotes.

I'm not entirely sure about the other comments.

AI Auto is for people who don't want to be muddle by functions. Likewise I suspect natural or vivid are too much for the camera when shooting video.

So you consider the TZ7 a camcorder not a camera ? As the TZ7 is a camera with the self-timer it should not be difficult to allow the use of the self-timer also when you use the video . As regards my other comments it's clear that 2 days play are not enough for a complete comment but, as usual, all depends of what you are waiting for and at which camera you compare the TZ7. BTW I never wrote about vivid in video , I wrote : why in IA mode you can have at 4:3 = 10 Mp, 5 Mp, 3 Mp -- at 3:2 = 9,5 Mp but only 2 Mp if you choose 16:9.- ?
