I am now comparing the fz28 and the lx3. I'm concerned that the price of the fz28 is so much less than the lx3, am I getting less of a camera? I like the zoom on the fz28 compared to the lx3, but I've read that the lx3 does better in lower light situations and has a wider angle. Any thoughts?

I'm planning on getting the FZ28 or its replacement model which is probably going to be announced in July. (I have no rush, although they may sell quick once new model is announced)

Why? EVF, Zoom and better grip.

The reality is good photos come from composition and subject. The LX3 takes better images, but has far less flexibility and ease of use.

Hi jsmith, have you looked at the results and gallery pages of my reviews of all these cameras you're mentioning? They show how they perform and compare under various conditions including in low light and a high ISOs...

I have decided to go with the fz28, I ordered it from Amazon last night for $299. I first tried to get it from Camera Giants, they wanted me to call for verification so I did some searching on them. They are a scam company and have several other stores names they operate under. Please don't fall for their low prices. Their price was $199, guess what, it WAS too good to be true. So I went with somebody I knew was trust worthy at a decent price compared to other stores and free shipping. We will see what kind of pictures I can take when it gets here. Anybody know of any good beginner photography books?

A very basic book is from the dummy series -- "Digital Photography for Dummies." I bought that around Christmas time, and enjoyed reading it. It's probably too basic for most people in this forum, but I am a total noob, and enjoyed learning the basics. One thing that I found annoying was that the book tended to repeat the same thing throughout several parts of the book.

Congrats on the FZ28. By everything that I read about the FZ28, it sounds like a pretty nice camera. Congrats, and make sure to share your pics with us!

I've decided on the fz-28 and so far I really like it. It does have some noise in lower light without a flash and I do wish the shutter stayed open for more than 60 seconds but other than that I am happy.
