Hi everyone, in case you'd missed the announcement, Panasonic has unveiled its second DSLR, the L10, and it looks like combining the best of the FZ series with a DSLR interior... See our preview here:

http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panas ... x_DMC-L10/

Is anyone tempted? The flip out screen and contrast-based AF in Live View mode both look like nice features...

Gordon

Ah but Mohamed, the L10's kit lens has built in stabilisation, and you'll see the effect through the viewfinder...

Not only that, but in-lens stabilization can also help the AF and the AE systems.

We don't yet know how much the new Leica kit lens will be... If Panasonic want to be competitive though, it won't be too bad... Remember the L10 is an entry-level DSLR, so it can't be too expensive as a kit...

Panasonic is quite clever. Would be nice to see your review, Gordon!

Final production models could be some time off yet I'm afraid... so just our preview for now...

I wonder if the firmware for the Leica D 14-50mm and 25mm lenses will be updated to support the L10's Live View direct sensor autofocus?

Hmmm, good question - if it's possible, you'd hope so, given Panasonic and Leica's close relationship, but we'll have to see. I'll also put in a question to them...

PS - welcome to the forums!

Hi Gordon,

How is the L10 review coming along? Any time frame for the final review release that you have in mind?

Thank you very much,

Alex

Thank you Gordon!

On a different topic, what do you thing about these price drops?

FZ18 - $249 shipped at Vanns
E-510 dual lens kit - $649
etc.

What's going on? Is there no tomorrow?

Alex

Pretty good! I'd always check every supplier at www.resellerratings.com to make sure though.

Gordon,

Now that the L-10 has come down in price to around £500, how would you recommend it versus the Olympus E-520, as a first DSLR?

Should the L-10 always have been this price given its specifications and features, or would you now be getting a better camera for a similar price?

Many thanks

Louis
