Trolling the flower pictures of this web site I came across these taken with a FZ28. http://www.cameralabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12252.

I checked with the guy and although he owns a TCON teleconverter it was not used for these shots.

Hi Newuser. I think that I may have worked out why you are having intermittent focusing results. I suspect that being keen to get close that you are moving away from the x1 macro setting that gives 1cm focus. Any shift away from x1 will rapidly push out the distance to the subject. Quickly the camera will be pushed to and beyond its limit of operation. The distance at different macro zoom settings is displayed briefly as the zoom control is used. Page 72 of the manual also defines this limitation in a focus range diagram, showing a dotted line from 1cm (x1)to 2 metre (x6) focus distance. If you need to obtain more plant detail you will need to purchase a lens adapter and a specific add-on super macro lens. In summary do not try 1cm photography at any setting other than x1 in native FZ28 mode.
