 Post subject: E510 Panorama
PostPosted: Mon May 12, 2008 3:15 pm
Hi all. Just bought an E510. I'm just learning what it can do and I'm really looking forward to getting to grips with the panorama facility. But I have a question. Can you use the panorama setting without the camera engaging the live view? I can see this being a bit of a pain on a really bright day. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi Ceri

Not quite the answer to the question I am afraid, but having just bought an E510, I also bought (on Ebay) a licensed copy of Photoshop Elements 6. It cost about the same price as an XD memory card (which, I believe is required to use the panoramic function on the camera - hopefully one of the more knowledgeable regulars will correct me if I am wrong.)

The software allows you to put together a panoramic from images stored on a CF/XD card without using the camera's dedicated panoramic mode. It is very easy to use and produces very good quality results. Of course, using 'Elements', it matters not whether you took the pictures using live view or not.

Hope this was of some use

Regards

Edited for spooling mistukes!

Thanks for the response. I am going to buy Photoshop, but it just seems to be a pain not to use the dedicated software that comes with the kit. I would think I’m being a bit dim and there is a menu item somewhere that allows you to use the viewfinder to create a panorama

Bye Ceri
