Hi all newbie here!

I've been searching around for a 300mm lens for the above camera but can only seem to find the official olympus zuiko one, which at £250+ is out of my reach at the moment. I was told a while ago that Sigma did a compatible 70-300mm lens for £150 but I cant seem to find one anywhere used or new. Seem to have a limited range of lenses with the four thirds system. I've currently got a 40-150mm olympus lens but its just not quite enough for bird photography, I think 300mm would be sufficient though. Can anyone help?

I think the Olympus 70-300 is basically a re-badged Sigma, but I don't think sigma make one themselves. They do a 70-200 and a few others, but not within your budget.

The Olympus 70-300mm is the best option for birding on a budget. there's nothing else that compares on price I'm afraid.

If you want 300mm, then the Zuiko 70-300mm is the cheapest choice. Not to mention that it is a capable macro lens as well.

I also thought that the Zuiko 70-300mm is based on a sigma lens, but I have read that Olympus declines this.

Maybe you should take a look at the lens gallery. There are some shots done with the 70-300mm by others and myself.

One thing to consider:

Your E-410 has no image stabilizer. This might be a problem when it's not very sunny.
