Hello! Newbie here. Recently bought an e-620. Love it. But the kit lens has a very short reach.

I want to extend my reach. I suppose I am looking for a 'telephoto' lens ? I thought about the zuiko 70-300mm for its telephoto ability and also macro capacities. Any input on this ?

Hmm you should look (if your budget allows it) at the Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 ED SWD,it's a very sharp lens & you have a equivalent of 400mm,so that's serious telephoto. :)

I think you definitely should buy the 70-300mm if you're planning on using it outdoor for most of the time. Of course the 50-200mm is 'a lot' better (and more than twice as expensive), but the 70-300mm is 'unbeatable' in the value-for-money segment.

I recently bought the 70-300mm myself next to the, double zoom, kitlenses I own. As you can read in all review it gets a bit soft when fully open, but it for sure one you should have if you're looking for some extra reach.

no regrets here with the 70-300mm

then i got the 50mm. and next will be the 14-54 II

that should cover it. every lens under 500 and all very sharp. the kits are going bye bye. although they are really good kits.
