I bought this camera too for my birthday. It's my first time shooting pictures with dslr. Can't say I'm not having any troubles with it because I do. There are so many buttons to twiddle...

I use my camera in parties but it frustrates me because I can't get shots of people without them being blurry. I can't get my pictures to look sharp and "not-blurry". I have to tell them to stay still for a moment. Can you help me with this one?

How dark is the environment that you are taking your photos? And what mode are you taking your photos?

Generally speaking, the camera will increase the exposure time in darker situations so that it can gather more light. So if there is any movement of the subject or the camera, you will end up getting blurriness. The solution is to use flash or increase the ISO sensitivity. Your Oly should also have image stabilization, which will help to counter camera movement during longer exposure photos. Make sure you turn that on.

Either use a flash or set your shutter speed to something fast (e.g. 1/200s), open your aperture and raise the ISO
