Folks,

I just bought an E-510, love it so far. I adapted, through two rings, an old Tamron mirror lens, (500 mm) to the Oly and it works great except for one thing. I cannot get the IS to work with this lens. It works fine with the kit lenses. I though the camera body IS would work with any lens. Needless to say, it is hard to hold this (now 1000 mm) lens steady.

Any thoughts?

Thanks much,

roy

Hello Roy, and welcome to the Camera Labs forum!
Body-based IS not working on this lovely Tamron 500mm mirror-lens (which I also own a copy of)?! That's a pity
But it conforms what I would suspect: that camera-based IS needs some focal-length information to calculate how much to compensate.
Perhaps you would be better off with the Tamron 200-500mm although sharpness of my copy was not as good as other tests had promised :?

Hi Roy, When the E510 first came out there were several comments (elsewhere) lamenting the fact that you could not enter the focal-length manually as with some other cameras (Pentax I believe).
