I traded in my Oly E-500 for the E-510 (mainly for the IS), and I find it's worlds better! Better detail, more accurate exposures. I was hoping that there'd be no difference in the flow of taking pix using Live View, but it's fairly clunky and inefficient compared to using the viewfinder. I will definitely have to evolve a working routine there. However I can see situations where Live View will come in very handy.
I notice right away that it focuses much faster than my 500 did. I still wish they would have used a red AF light instead of that flickerflash AF assist.
There are a number of low/available light situations I shoot in (meditation areas for instance) where the flickerflash is really out of the question. The red light would have been much better. And HOORAY, I can use an electronic cable release!!!
But back to lowlight focusing, here's a general question: If I attach the FL-36 external flash, can I use it's red AF light to focus the camera, but without using the flash? That would solve a lot
of problems for me!
