I received Picture Project 1.7 with my new Nikon D40, but soon realised the software is only in Japanese! How essential is this software for retouching / organising shots? Should I write to Nikon directly requesting English software (possibly at extra price), or attempt to explain to the shop staff where I bought the D40 that I need a (possibly unavailable in Japan) English version.

Thanks!

There should be an english version for download at http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/cgi- ... _topview=1

Maybe you have to register.

I never touched that software as I already had Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 installed on my computer. There are many (better) alternatives to the software that came with the camera... Most are not free though...

I registered but I was still told I "wasn't permitted" to download the software! Plus my attempt to go to the shop and explain I needed the English version failed utterly. I've written an email to Nikon though, hopefully then I'll be permitted to download the software.
