 Post subject: D80 - 3rd party flash?
PostPosted: Tue Jun 19, 2007 9:49 pm
What a friendly helpful forum. And what really good reviews, especially the opportunity to see gear on video.

I have found out that if I use a vivitar 283 flashgun its high voltage will fry the electronics on my shiny new D80 so it stays in the bag! I also have an olympus T32 flash - does anyone have any idea if that would be safe? I suspect I need to save for a new flash and TTL would be good - Nikonn quite expensive - any good 3rd party dedicated guns out there?

If interested see my pics on www.simonconner.com - feedback welcomed.

regards, Simon

If have personally tested the Oly T32 with my D80. Everything worked fine - exept that you don't get the TTL-control.
As a reliable third-party manfacturer I'd recommend Metz. Although as the interworking between the camera, the built-in flash and a slave-flash is quite intricate, I hesitated to use a third-party flash on my D80 and went for the original.

Thanks Thomas - now I know it is safe I can experiment with the T32. I have owned Metz before and will give them a look - I think TTL is the way to go.
