Update. My review is up here!
***************************************************

This is the FX-version of the DX-lens (AF-S DX Nikkor 35/1.8G) that we tested a while ago (see my 35mm lens comparison) and was pretty good.

Image

11 elements in 8 groups, 1 aspherical and 1 ED elements (the 35mm f/1.4G lens has 10 elements in 7 groups with 1 aspherical element)
No golden ring
Size: 2.83 in. (72 mm) x 2.81 in. (71.5 mm)
Minimum focusing distance: 25 cm, maximum magnification: 1:4.2 (says German site) or 0.16x (= 1:6.3, says US-site). I personally would rather assume the latter.
Filter size: 58mm
Weight: 305g / 10.7 oz
7 blades aperture (rounded)
Price: 600 USD / 580€ (incl. 19% VAT)
Availability: 20th of Feb (the German Announcement talks of "beginning of February")

More information from Nikon US here and from Nikon Germany there

And I'll test and compare this new lens to the AF-S 35/1.4G asap...

Hmm, the Nikon global site here mentions a 0.24x = 1/4.2 magnification, so perhaps the US-site got it wrong.

Hmm, Nikonrumors says "should start shipping on February 6th".
Let's see. I've already ordered one...

First tests show
- that the lens is good up into the DX-corners
- albeit with some field-curvature
- and the FX-corners do show some good resolution at overall lower contrast and the field curves back to where it was at the center.
- it's pretty arduous to find the best micro focus adjustment. I oscillated between -4 and -12 depending on the subject and distance.
