Gordon, this is an excellent review of these lenses. Thanks. I am one of those who switched to Nikon because of the 18-200 VR.

Yep, it sure is a compelling lens and has persuaded many people to go for the Nikon system - although not that much persuading is required given the current range of bodies!

Canon really needs an equivalent lens - sure there's the Sigma and Tamron 18-200s, but neither are in the same class as the Nikkor 18-200mm.
