So I am considering to buy a Nikon D3100 but I don't know for how long after the new D3200 they will still be available in shops. My dad thinks 400 euro for the body and 18-55 lens is too much so he denies me to buy it until it is in sale or if the price has lowered. When will this actually happen, the D3200 just came out so I think they will lower the D3100's price? I don't have any problems with 400 euro but apparently my dad does.

Well, the D3200 with 18-55 VR already dropped from 800 EUR to 580 EUR (-27%). So I assume that this is not going to fall much further fast.
On the other hand the D3100 with kit-lens dropped shortly below 390 EUR and bounced back to around 420 EUR. That is a sign for me that the price-level of the D3100 is not going to fall much further anytime soon.
The main question now is: how fast are the last production units of the D3100 sell at this price-differential against the D3200. If it takes until X-mas to clear the the stock you might well see some lower prices. But if Nikon did calculate the remaining pieces of D3100 well it may not be available for too long.
So my guess is: it will not go much deeper than 400 EUR in the coming months

Then maybe it is an option to buy a 2nd hand "new" Nikon D3100. Like people who won it from something and don'y need it or people who have only taken a couple of pictures. For a price of 320 it is very much considerable.
