I transferred all my Nikon files to an external hard drive & changed the file location to point to it for storage as well as viewing it worked well

So well i did the same with files stored over years from Casio 2meg pixLX2,LX3,sony TX1 & copies of film scanned

The 1000giga drive freed up space on my Laptop & Netbook. I bought a second drive as back up, While away i deleted the files on my laptop the T61 has only a 60 gig drive and had 50+ gig image files

When home i took my hard drive to back up files,the back up "formatted" the drive and wrote 3giga files only when to late did i realize it was my samsung image drive and not an older USD 2 samsung

Once the files on my IBM T61 were in the "bin" bin emptied i didnt use it again and now its in "quarantine" as i was told that i might be able to recover the deleted files

Same samsung USB 3 1 TB drive

Can i recover these files?

I had had files everywhere on old laptops,old drives & when i transferred those files they two were deleted

In the end ALL my image files were on just one external hard drive

In the same week a La cie 500 gig drive died it was only a few months old and was very small,that had .avi files which were copies.Nothing lost but very worrying its the first drive ive had that worked then 20 seconds later gone

Sorry to hear that. I bet you were gutted.

I've no idea with all this techie stuff, but i'm sure you'll get some good ideas/advice from the guys on here who know their stuff.

I rather hoped someone would recommend one of the many downloads for data recovery

Unfortunately all the paid recovery services are aimed at business (understandably) so are quite expensive but could recover far larger systems than my "tiny"drive

The free services are to me unknown and so each a risk of making it worse
