I borrowed an F3 recently and had so much fun shooting with it that I've decided to take the plunge and get myself a basic film camera + lens kit.

I'm a complete novice with film - so I need an answer aimed at the "idiots" level, but I'm wondering about the relative pros and cons of the F3 vs the FE2 in particular, as well as any lens recommendations (one lens only) for a beginner.

I'm thinking a 35mm or 50mm (FX of course) with a low aperture...

Sorry that this question is so hopelessly general!

With the caveat that most of my experience is with Minoltas, both the F3 and FE2 would be OK. The FM2 is the manual version and, as these are older cameras, it may have less problems (electronics can always go off).

From your signature, you already have a suitable 50mm lens, so you could think of a WA or telephoto lens as a second, depends on what you like to shoot.

I still regularly shoot film (35 and MF) and it's good fun.
