Hi guys, I was out late this evening to get some landscape shots. I was shooting in Aperture Priority from f/3.5 to f/16. Upon getting back home and uploading the images on my computer, I noticed all photos with Apertures f/8-f/16 have visible annoying black spots on the upper right corner of the images. My D7000 is barely 2months old. Shall I have this replaced as it is still under warranty. I have read www.mansurovs.com that these are Stuck/Dead/Hot pixels. Any views please? Many thanks.

Thats dust, possibly on your sensor, or rear element. Shooting at wider apertures means that the dust is waay out of focus, so you don't notice it. At the smaller apertures you were using, they become more visible.

Give your lens a good clean, if they are still there you'll have to clean your sensor. If you have a strong rocket blower its pretty easy

I have used both my 18-200 VRII and 35mm 1.8G DX, the black spot is on the same upper right hand area. I have cleaned both sensor and lenses, still the same. Any more clues or suggestions what could really be the problem? Thanks heaps guys.

It's a sticky bit of dust

I think this problem has been already pin pointed with some blogs I've read in the net especially at www.mansurovs.com D7000 review. As the pros say, this is OIL SPOT that is deposited from the D7000's shutter mechanism. There has been hundreds if not thousands of D7000 owners who have experienced this problem already. I am convinced and decided to return my D7000 and might get the new SONY A77. Let me just also add that before I upgraded to DSLR, I had a Sony Bridge Point & Shoot HX-1 camera and I have never under any circumstances experienced this problem with the sony even shooting under extreme winter snow storm conditions. All images are speck free from the HX-1.
