First poster. Reading forum for the last, oh lets say 20h or so.

First of all lots of good reading and excellent pictures.

Myself, newly acquired D7000. Upgrade from the D80 w/kit lens. Will have my hands on the camera in exactly 18 days, as I am currently in-country and going on R&R soon.

Purchased the following to accompany the camera which should cover the needs I have.

Tokina 11-16mm
Nikon 35mm/1.8
Nikon 50mm/1.8
Nikon 55-200mm (still drooling on the 70-200)

As well as some filters and stuff.

Been around Nikon since FM then F801 followed by the D80, consider myself an amateur and willing to learn. No intentions what so ever of going "pro", this is a hobby.

Watched the D7000 video on the Camera Reviews, and have read about some focus issues when pairing D7000 to various lenses. The "image" /document used in the review video, where can it be found so I can test it when I get my hands on the camera.

As to finding out whether your camera/lens-combo needs focus-tuning any target with sufficiently fine structures would do. And as the eye is especially sensitive to the sharpness of letters just shoot a daily hanging flat on the wall from a distance where you can just read the words at 100% magnification. Just focus on the center of the image as you might be disturbed by other effects otherwise and shoot wide open! Compare AF at 0 and then +5 and -5 adjustment. If sharpness is better in one direction (say +5) go to +10 and +15 and see where sharpness peaks. If it's sharpest around say +10 try +7 and +13 to find the best adjustment. Don't bother with changes in 1 step increments, I honestly don't see any difference between e.g. +7 and +8.
Repeat for each lens in turn!

it's normally sigma that needs to be fine tuned.

the AF on the d7000 is pretty precise. I wouldn't consider using a D lens on it.

So far the food at various places has been pretty good. Most of the local stuff is very tasty. Would compare it to very mild Indian cuisine.
