And only reason i said i'd go 24-70 over 17-55 is in case you upgrade to full frame later on, 17-55 is a DX lens only.. which seems a little silly for a lens that is so expensive..

well i already sold my d90 and ordered the d7000 because of it`s better quality at the higher ISO ,faster focus and better built quality , i was really thinking of buying the 24-70mm but it`s really expensive that`s why i`m trying to get prime lenses to get the quality but unfortunately without the flexibility . and the 17-55mm is over priced as well .
some have been suggesting sigma 17-50mm f2.8 but i don`t really trust in third party lenses .

i think i`m gonna buy nikkor 28mm f2.8 , so what do you think guys ? is it good for walk around , parties.... ? i`m afraid if it would be too close like my 50mm which i`m using for only portraits .

the local store can sell me the 28mm f2.8 for 275$
while the 35mm 220 $ , 24mm 400$ and the 20mm 580$

thnx again

I can recommend the 35/1.8, but if you didn't like the 18-105 because it was plasticy, then you really won't like the 18-55. And you have to manually focus by actually turning the lens barrel (not that it's a bad lens - I use mine a bit - but it does come with a number of limitations).

For a more solid WA zoom I can recommend the 16-85, and it's wider too, but higher in price of course.

here's my suggestion for you

tokina 11-16mm <====== your landscape lense
nikkor 35mm f1.8 <====== your walk around lense
nikkor 85mm f1.8 <====== your portrait lense

all of them are capable in low ligh situation

or budget permiting, look up the 17-55mm f2.8 DX. your d7000 and this lense is a match made in heaven IMHO.

good luck!

we`ll i`d get the 17-55mm but it`s not at my budget .
the 18-55mm i know it`s plastic but i`m not gonna be using it that much only when i find my 35mm is close .
verynew the tokina is amazing and i`ll buy it maybe later and instead the 85mm i got 50mm for portraits.
my only concern is the 35mm might be too close

I agree with verynew. That would be by far the best option,in my opinion.

It's Not that you're uncomfortable you've jut been spoiled by zooms.

However I do shoot all primes but I'm currently in the market for a 70-200 II.

too expensive for below-Tamron optics. the built quality is better & the OS is a nice adition, but I for one don't think it deserves that price tag.
