If anybody is looking to buy one of these particularly hard to find lenses at the moment, in the UK, there is one for sale here

They also have a 200mm f2 for sale at a decent price, however these dont tend to be as hard to find

Sorry if this is an illegal post, mods please delete this post if so.

Jeremy

Here's one for you...doesn't the tunnel-type lens hood affect the overall amount of light entering the lens? (question for all lenses with that type on hood)

No, because 500mm has such a narrow angle of view, the lens only takes in light from this direction, which is clear of the hood. The hood is just to stop glare and flare.

Hi Jeremy,

No, I don't think it's an "illegal post" as I assume you gain no financial benefit from any sale. The only extra hurdles we request members observe in these situations are that they only link to reputable companies, preferably those they have personal knowledge of, and that there might be a reasonable expectation that such a commercial link might be of interest to fellow members.

But that's just my take: other Mods, or the Boss himself, might take a different view...

Bob.

No I am in no way affiliated with MPB.

I only did it as I know it is a rare lens which I know many people struggle to track down if they want it.

Anyway it has already sold. I dont know why they didnt push the price higher to be honest!

Cheers Bob

Thanks Jeremy

What was this lens listed at? I'm a bit curious now.

As a side note, I have used mpb many times and find them a great resource for used kit. I got a few lenses and bodies through them, and on the one occasion the lens wasn't behaving adequately I got a refund without problem.

Wow, that's a steal! Of course, I'm not currently in the market for a fast super-tele prime, nor do I have the money for one.
