I have a Nikon D90 and i find it very good. I am into portrait and low light photography.
Could someone help me in choosing a good lens that is suited to my interests. A good lens yet not that expensive, I'm still a student.

Mmmm, or the 35mm or the 50mm.
There's third-party models too, if you are on a really budget with high needs.

i'd go for the 50mm f1.4,.. its not that expenisive but great for both portrait and low light..

i was thinking of buying what bakica said. i think its a great lens and i think i can also afford it. and its f/1.4 so it'll probably be one of my priorities.

but if you guys has something more that can suggest, then please feel free to reply

I cant comment because I havent used it, but it may be a lens to look out for.

The Nikon 50mm 1.8 is coming soon. It is already announced on Nikon's website, but it's for pre-order only. It is twice cheaper (about $220) than the 1.4 version (about $450) and is also a FX lens.
I can recommend Tokina 100mm f/2.8 - amazing lens (and it is macro). It's the same price like the Nikon 50mm f/1.4.

I would not worry about edges on the nikkor 50mm f1.4. Its a full frame lens which he is going to use on a DX body, so he wont use the edges of the lens anyway. Nikkor 50mm f1.4 is a great lens. Didnt use it myself. I ordered an 35mm f1.8 (which is supposed to be sharper then the 35mm f1.4 and much much much cheaper too).

I probably would use nikkor glass on a nikon body. You never now if there will be any flaws in the CPU on 3rd party lenses.
